1. About these terms and who we are
WorkHook (https://workhook.co.za) is an online job board and advertising platform operated by PIL DM (Pty) Ltd, a private company registered in South Africa ("we", "us", "our"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") are an agreement between you and us when you visit or use WorkHook, its app or any of its services.
As required by section 43 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 (ECTA), our details are:
- Full name and legal status: PIL DM (Pty) Ltd, a private company
- Physical address and address for legal notices: Centurion, Gauteng, South Africa
- Email: support@pilmobi.com
- Phone: 0812797823
- Website: https://workhook.co.za
Please read these Terms together with our Privacy Policy. Clauses that limit our liability, place risk on you or ask you to indemnify us are shown in bold, as the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 (CPA) requires.
2. Accepting the terms and your account
- By creating an account, applying, posting, advertising or paying on WorkHook, you accept these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use WorkHook.
- You must be 18 years or older to create an account.
- Give true, current and complete information, and keep it up to date. Use your own name and contact details, or those of the business you are authorised to act for.
- Keep your password secret. You are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us at once at support@pilmobi.com if you think someone else has used it.
- One person or business may hold one account of each type (work seeker and employer).
3. What WorkHook is - and is not
WorkHook connects people who need work done or want to hire with people looking for work, and lets businesses and individuals advertise their services.
- We are not an employment agency, labour broker or temporary employment service. We do not recruit, screen, place or employ anyone, and we are not a party to any employment contract, service agreement, quote or sale between users.
- We do not check every listing, profile, advert or qualification. Users must do their own checks (references, qualifications, identity, registrations such as PIRB or electrical CoCs) before hiring, working or paying.
- We do not guarantee that you will find work, staff, customers or any particular result.
- Work seekers never pay employers through WorkHook to apply. Optional paid features (memberships, boosts and extra adverts) are digital services from us, not fees for finding you a job.
4. Work seekers
- Searching, applying and sending quotes with the standard form is free.
- When you apply or quote, we send your application (name, contact details, message, quote and any CV you attach) to the employer by email and show it in their dashboard.
- Your public profile link can be seen by anyone who has it, unless you make it private. If you tick Let employers find me, you appear in Find workers: visitors see your first name, surname initial, headline, area and skills; logged-in employers see your full profile and can download your CV. Untick it at any time.
- Your photo is only shown if you tick Show my photo.
- Your CV, profile and applications must be honest. Do not claim qualifications, experience or registrations you do not have.
- Only add references who have agreed to be contacted.
5. Employers and private people posting work
- Only post real, currently available jobs and work. Describe the pay, duties, location and requirements truthfully.
- Never ask applicants for money - not for applications, interviews, training, uniforms, medicals or "placement". We remove such listings and may report them.
- Comply with South African labour law, including the Basic Conditions of Employment Act, the Labour Relations Act, the Employment Equity Act and the National Minimum Wage Act. Listings may not unfairly discriminate.
- Use applicants' information only to consider them for the job or work you posted, keep it secure and delete it when you no longer need it. Once an application reaches you, you are the responsible party for it under the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
- Quotes received for work to be done are offers between you and the person quoting. Agree the scope, price, timing and payment directly with them.
- Employers who download a CV from Find workers may use it only to contact that person about genuine work.
6. Adverts
- Employers and work seekers may place adverts for their business, services or themselves. You get 1 free advert per calendar month; extra adverts are paid. Adverts run for 30 days and then expire unless renewed.
- You are responsible for your advert: it must be accurate, lawful and yours to publish. Only advertise legal goods and services, and only if you hold any licence or registration the law requires.
- Prices in adverts must be honest and include VAT where you are VAT-registered.
- Only upload images you own or have permission to use. Images you upload stay in your private My media library and are shown publicly only in your adverts.
- Anyone may report an advert. We may remove or suspend adverts at our discretion, without refund where the advert broke these Terms.
7. Things you may not do
- Post false, misleading, fraudulent, pyramid, multi-level-marketing or "get rich quick" listings or adverts.
- Harass, threaten, discriminate against or abuse anyone, or post hateful, sexual or violent content.
- Collect other users' details to spam them, sell them on or contact them for anything other than the listing or advert.
- Copy, scrape or download WorkHook content in bulk, or use bots, except search engines.
- Upload viruses or try to break, overload or get around the security of WorkHook.
- Pretend to be someone else, or use another person's account.
- Use WorkHook for anything unlawful.
- Leave false, paid-for or revenge ratings, or rate yourself.
- Give fake, traded or paid-for high fives, vouches or badge recommendations, or use extra accounts to give them.
- Share your API keys, or use the API to post listings that break these Terms. You are responsible for everything posted with your keys, and we may revoke a key at any time.
- Send unwanted, repeated or abusive messages. Messages are limited per day; anyone reported for harassment may be blocked from sending messages or suspended.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of what you post (profiles, CVs, listings, adverts and images). You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, resize, display and share that content on WorkHook and in links, previews and share pictures that you or others share on WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and email, for as long as it is on WorkHook.
We may edit content for format, or remove content that breaks these Terms or the law. Listings and adverts marked Example are sample content that shows how WorkHook works; they are not real vacancies or offers.
The WorkHook name, logo, design and software belong to us or our licensors.
9. AI features
Advanced members can use AI to read a CV and fill in their profile, and to draft cover letters and short profiles. The AI service is provided by Anthropic (Claude). AI output can contain mistakes. Check and correct everything before you save or send it - you are responsible for what your profile and applications say. Each use counts against your plan's monthly AI allowance.
10. Prices and payments
- Prices are shown on WorkHook before you pay, in South African rand (ZAR). Prices may be adjusted for the country you live in. Any conversion to your own currency is an estimate only.
- Payments are processed by Paystack. We never see or store your full card details.
- Memberships and plans last for the period shown (usually 30 days). If you save your card and leave auto-renew on, the plan renews and your card is charged at the start of each new period until you switch auto-renew off on your plans page. Switching off stops the next renewal; you keep the plan until the end of the period you paid for.
- Boosts (applications, listings, your Find workers profile, adverts and Hello Pages entries) place your item above others for the period shown. Where more than one person boosts, the highest current boost shows first. A boost does not guarantee views, applications, replies or sales.
- Spotlight highlights your Hello Pages entry and shows it under the Spotlight filter for the period shown, for a fixed fee. Buying it again adds to the end date. Like a boost, it does not guarantee views or replies.
- Extra adverts run for 30 days from publishing.
- Free features may change. We will give notice on WorkHook before we start charging for a feature that is free today.
11. Cancelling and refunds
- Cooling-off (ECTA section 44): you may cancel a membership within 7 days of paying for a full refund, as long as you have not yet used it (for example, attached a CV, used an AI credit or used a boost). Email support@pilmobi.com.
- Boosts and extra adverts start immediately at your request, so the cooling-off right does not apply once they are live (ECTA section 42(2)).
- If you were charged twice, charged in error, or a paid feature did not work because of a fault on our side, we will refund you or put it right.
- Refunds are paid to the card or account you paid from within 30 days.
- If we remove a listing or advert because it broke these Terms, or suspend your account for that reason, no refund is due.
12. Availability and changes
We work to keep WorkHook available and secure, but we do not promise that it will always be available, error-free or uninterrupted. We may change, add or remove features, carry out maintenance or stop a service. Where a change affects something you have paid for, we will give you a fair alternative or a pro-rata refund.
13. Our responsibility to you
To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for:
- what users post, say or do, including false listings, profiles, adverts, quotes or CVs;
- any employment, work, service or sale arranged between users, or its quality, safety, payment or outcome;
- loss of income, profit, opportunity or data, or any indirect loss;
- delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as power outages, load shedding, network failures or third-party services.
Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any right you have under the CPA or other law that cannot be excluded.
14. Indemnity
You indemnify us against claims, losses and costs (including reasonable legal costs) that arise because you broke these Terms or the law, or because of content you posted.
15. Suspension and closing your account
- We may suspend or close an account, or remove content, if we reasonably believe it breaks these Terms, puts other users at risk or is unlawful. Where appropriate we will tell you why.
- You may ask us to close your account at any time by emailing support@pilmobi.com. See our Privacy Policy for what we keep after that and why.
16. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you by email or on WorkHook before it takes effect. If you keep using WorkHook after that, the new Terms apply; if you do not agree, you may close your account.
17. Law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of the Republic of South Africa. Please contact us first at support@pilmobi.com so we can try to resolve any complaint. If we cannot, you may approach the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud or the National Consumer Commission, or a court with jurisdiction. Nothing in this clause limits your rights as a consumer.
